SUPER DELEGATE FOR SENATOR BARACK OBAMA

Dear Friends,

I am fired up and ask for your vote to reelect me as your Colorado committeewoman to the Democratic National Committee!  Since 2004, I have worked for Colorado at the DNC to bring the party back to the people.  That's why I supported Gov. Howard Dean as DNC chairman. That's why I supported the 50 state strategy.

But there is still much work to be done at the DNC and that is why I am asking you to allow me to continue to represent Colorado.

My goal, as your representative to the DNC would be to be informed and informative. Below are issues and values that I feel I have brought to the DNC.

·         I am a proud Western Colorado representative. I was born in Denver, but I have lived in Eagle County for over than 30 years and I have a great affection for the people of the west & east slope, our diverse issues and communities. I am the first west sloper to serve at the DNC for over 20 years.

·         I feel that the state party should take advantage of all programs available to us that can increase Democratic voter registration and outreach.  As a member of the DNC I will frequently report back to the state – and travel to the counties with my news and ask for input to take back to the DNC. The western slope and outlying areas will see me, in person.

aFor the first time, the CDP has maintained the same voter file for two cycles.  The DNC has provided the funding for the continuation of the voter file. I have always had a particular interest in seeing that our voter database be useful to every Democratic county chair and candidate in the state.  That has been accomplished thanks to the DNC.

·         I believe that the Latino vote must not be underestimated by the DNC and Colorado. Democratic values are shared by our community but we must share the responsibility to reach out and invite new members to our party.  Much of my focus at the DNC has been on Latino Vote. A 2008 Latino Vote plan is critical to winning Colorado and the west.  It will happen.

·         My dreams growing up were of a political system where civic participation is something to be proud of.  Today, we are experiencing a surge in younger voters.  Like Latino Vote, we must continue programs and outreach to kept the young voters in our party for years to come.  If we do, we succeed for a generation and beyond.

I accepted the challenge to provide leadership for Colorado to the DNC. I have worked tirelessly to represent you. But there is more work to be done.  Change takes time. And I ask for your vote in order so that I can check off more on the to do list for Colorado Democrats and the DNC. Please vote for me at the 2008 Democratic State Convention on May 22nd in Pueblo.
